Dain has worked in Special Education in Australia, The United Kingdom and Ireland over the last twenty years. In 1984 he was elected a Member of the Australian College of Education. More recently he completed a Diploma in Specific Learning Disabilities from the Hornsby International Centre in England. Since returning to live in Ireland in 1996, he has worked as an Educational Consultant, presenting Study Skills seminars to second level students, coordinating transition programmes (primary to secondary school) and as a state-funded C.S.P.E. facilitator training teachers. In the 2000/01 school year, he was the English and Science coordinator at The Old Rectory School, a primary boarding school in Suffolk, England, which specializes in teaching children with dyslexia. He has taught literacy to students with Mild Learning Disabilities and is an NCTE Tutor in ICT for both Mild Learning Disabilities and Learning Support and an NCTE SME in Special Needs. In 2007-08 he was a member of the SESS Dyslexia Team. Currently he is a resource teacher at secondary level and also works as a dyslexia tutor. Dain has been an ICEP Europe tutor since 2003 working on the Dyslexia, Inclusion and St Patrick’s Certificate/Diploma courses.
