Dr. Eileen Winter
Director of Academic Programmes
Eileen is an experienced educator and psychologist working currently as Director of Academic Programmes with ICEPE. Dr Winter has a wealth of experience in Inclusion and Special Educational Needs in N. Ireland, Ireland and Canada. She has many years experience as a teacher, department head, and administrator in both mainstream and special schools. Dr.Winter has been involved at the pre-service, in-service, graduate and post-graduate levels within the university sector for a number of years. Most recently, she was on faculty at the Graduate School of Education, Queen’s University where she taught post graduate courses and supervised Master’s and Doctoral students in Inclusion, Special Needs, and Educational Psychology. She also has a significant international research profile and publications in the field. Dr Winter has prepared and taught a range of SEN, Educational Psychology and Inclusion courses at York University, Ontario, Nipissing University, Ontario, OISE (University of Toronto), as well as Queen’s University, Belfast. Dr Winter also spent time in New Zealand at the University of Canterbury investigating special needs policies, practices and provision with a particular focus on teacher education for inclusive schools and classrooms. Dr Winter’s research focus is in the area of special needs and inclusion with particular reference to the training and preparation of new and experienced teachers for inclusive classrooms. She has recently completed a number of major funded research projects related to Inclusion.
