Research Roundup

Our research team have been busy lately, working on some exciting Erasmus + projects.  We’d love to give our students the opportunity to learn more about these initiatives, come to our webinars and give us your thoughts and feedback in our surveys.

Schools Against Victimisation from an Early Age (SAVE)

The European Launch of the SAVE project is on 30th of June at 10am.  The webinar will provide you with an opportunity to build your knowledge and provide you with strategies and resources to support the most vulnerable children you teach, learn more about child safeguarding, including cyberbullying and strategies for building resilience. Attendees will also be introduced to the newly developed SAVE online platform, which houses a programme of resources designed to develop the skills needed by educators to support and protect children and adolescent victims of violence and abuse, whilst also being informed as to the learnings and reflections of the SAVE research team regarding their participation in this cross-European collaboration.

Transitions for all into Schools (TRAINS)

The Erasmus+ funded TRAINS project, which commenced in September 2019, aims to facilitate more successful transitions into primary school for all students within the European Union by marrying the foremost research in the field of successful school transitions with best practice in education across Europe.

As part of our ongoing work towards this end, we would like to gather the thoughts and opinions of those educators involved in the facilitation of the transition process between preschool and primary school through their completion of our brief staff survey.  This should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.

Play, Learn and fight Anxiety (PLAY)

The primary aims of our Erasmus+ funded PLAY are to help university students become better prepared for university curricular activities, to help them reduce their anxiety and strengthen their awareness of their mental health. As part of the PLAY project, we have developed an innovative scenario-led, gamified tool with which university students can engage through the design of a 3D virtual world. The game allows students to gain skills and strategies for overcoming anxiety as they engage in university life and their studies.

We are hosting the formal Irish launch event to showcase this virtual environment, share the work we completed on the project and answer questions on this work on 6th July at 9:00am. Attendees will be provided with the opportunity to trial a number of the PLAY scenarios within the 3D virtual world and will also have the opportunity to hear Dr Moya O’Brien present on the topic of anxiety management through the ongoing pandemic situation.
